Thomas is a producer and DJ based in Detroit, who creates dance music that dissolves boundaries between genres and strangers. He debuted with ‘Roots That Talk,’ a split EP with Julion De’Angelo, released on Theo Parrish’s label Sound Signature. His own label Steady Flight Circle champions weird and honest music, and is currently on its fourth release: Friends and Mentors, a compilation featuring Whodat, Meftah, Poseidon Neptune, and John Silas. More recent collaborations also include Meeting Point and the Good and the Bad remix on Jihoon’s imprint, One Spoke.
Thomas crafts sets from a vast library of sound that seeks its answers far and wide, anywhere from jazz, funk, and disco to house, techno, and broken beat. Raised on the electric energy of DEMF and the Detroit Dance Community, Thomas blends records into high-energy sets that have warmed dance floors in parties such as Bridging the Groove and Content: Drum and Dance in Detroit, to the Sound Signature 20th Anniversary parties in London and New York. He’s shared stages with artists such as Theo Parrish, Specter, Jay Daniel, Kyle Hall, Javonette, Deon Jamar, and many other talented individuals. Thomas composes sets untethered to genre, with expansive mixes out on NTS (Sun City), Radio Raheem Milano, Lot Radio, Red Bull Radio’s Soul of Detroit, Excursions Chicago, and his own show on Universal Rhythms.
Thomas’ music is meant to resonate—not just through a room but with the emotions of everybody on the floor. “There’s joy, and addressing sadness, counteracting the weight of life, but we keep it moving.
